We weeded the black currants as best we could, the density of convolvulus roots means that it is not possible to do more than remove a few. We have then muched with old carpet which doesnt blow away so easily as mypex.( Maybe if we remember to pull off the new shoots as they appear we will manage to gradually diminish the extent of the summer growth) A collar of manure around each plant to feed for the year to come.
