Community Action Days
Our Community Action Days are so called because they bring community members together to do some of the necessary work in the house and in the grounds. They are also the best way for people who are interested in the community to meet its members, to explore the estate and get some first hand experience of working in a team.
There is much enjoyable work to be done which varies greatly depending on needs and weather and, of course individual abilities. Helping in our beautiful walled gardens, looking after the grounds, painting, cleaning, the list is endless and you are invited to help us nurture this community in many ways and connect to the land and us. Many hands make light creations! And a warm welcome is always ensured!
The Community Action Days are usually held on every first Saturday of the month. They start at 10am with an opening attunement, and finish with a short closing gathering at 4pm. If you wish, we will take you on a tour and answer any questions you may have.
We usually provide soup and bread for our shared vegetarian lunch but would welcome visitors to bring something to complement this. Lunch will be held either in the main house or in the garden, depending on the weather.
Wellie boots, work clothes and work gloves are often useful. Please don't bring dogs!
Please see our current newsletter for details and dates. And please do contact us before you appear at Bowden for a Community Action Day (or any other reason). This helps us prepare for the day and you may also need directions. Please send an email to info@bowdenhouse.co.uk
The next Community Action Days will be in September, date yet to be confirmed.
Please note that we also have two "Open Days" for interested people on Saturdays 19 July and 2 August 2008. These will have a greater focus on sharing information than on getting some work done.
