Welcome
If you have attempted to visit our website recently, thank you all for your patience while we have been reviewing and updating the information. We haven’t finished this process but have decided, in view of recent exciting developments, to provide at least some basic information.
The exciting news is that we are about to move into the next phase of our still young but thriving community. As some of you may know, Jan Mosbacher held the vision for over ten years that Bowden House would become home to a community. In February 2005, she invested her share of the sale of Wild Oats Wholefoods, Notting Hill, to help finance the project (along with a large mortgage), and with support from helpers seen and unseen, she has worked tirelessly to make her vision real.
The intention was always to attract co-creators of the community who would also be able to purchase a lease on the existing or potential residential units, and to move from sole-ownership to co-ownership. To make this possible we needed both the people and planning permission to convert the old photographic museum (now affectionately called the ‘Well House’) into seven new homes.
After many delays, we have now been given positive news by phone that this will be granted. We are currently awaiting paper confirmation that will be with us by mid July 2008. On receipt of this document it will be full steam ahead with our move into co-ownership, hopefully by September.
Some of these new houses will be bought by members of the community. The remaining units, plus a variety of other properties, will be available for purchase by accepted new members. Properties will be sold on 999-year leases at market value. So if you are interested in joining us or know someone who is, the time to act is NOW! Please see more details in our copy of the current newsletter which you will find at Current Newsletter.
We hope you will find the following interesting and inspiring.
Blessings from
Bowden House Community
